Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip Wind Direction: ESE Wind Stength: 18-25 Surf / Sea State: big and messy Air Temperature: 14 Sea Temperature: 13 Weather: cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got on the water about 2 and sailed for a while with 6m and 18knots away
from the shore wind shadow. Sea was quite choppy with some rollers but
enjoyable once I got used ot it. The wind went mental and I got ashore well
upwind after not daring to bear off. Massive dumpers and I got blown off to
watch my gear washed ashore and lucky to only break one batten, Wind
moderated and I sailed back to the Dip to see Pete (and Sally) rigging
4.5m. Being heftier (ie fatter) I rigged 5.2m onto the small board as wind
picked up again to 25knots (ffsc).
Very dodgy getting out through dumpers into a big sea with messy chop. A
bit nervous sailing as I felt any moment I was going to get thrown through
my sail, but I survived and enjoyed it. It was great to go up and down the
rollers and even take off a little, though I still cannot jump. xComing in
was fantastic down some of teh wave faces which were steep enough to drop
rather than sail down. Came ashore to see Paul rigging so went out again;
with a dodgy launch through the shore dump. Sea was much better and less
choppy getting close to high tide, then came in as I was getting tired
after 3.5 hours on the beach and probably two and half hours sailing in
challenging and tiring conditions. Ovell a fantastic day, just wished I
could sail for longer.
